UCR has an on-line application process for the Graduate Program in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology.

Consult the following information to aid your application process before applying to any of the graduate programs at CMDB.

Application Requirements

Applicants should have adequate undergraduate course work in:

  • Chemistry (two years)
  • Physics (one year)
  • Calculus (one year)
  • Statistics (one course)
  • Biochemistry (one course)
  • Biology (two years, including a course in genetics and two courses among cell, molecular, or developmental biology)

Applicants with strong academic records but with deficiencies in preparation for graduate training may be admitted and must make-up their deficiencies in the first two years of residence.

The Admission Committee thoroughly reviews each application and considers a variety of factors for admission. However, general requirements for admission include:

  • Last two years' Undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or better and
  • GRE Verbal and Quantitative Scores of 300 or better combined
  • TOEFL (for International Applicants) of 213 (computer) or 550 (paper) or 80 (Internet)

Although we do not require an M.S. degree for admission to our Ph.D.program, students with an M.S. must have a 3.0 GPA.
